One fully assembled pair with leads $40.00 CAD (singles for $20.00 CAD)
Restoring an old Akai Reel to Reel, Elmo Projector or other audio equipment with a Sanyo LD3141? The original Sanyo chips are hard to find, expensive and have gone bad over time. This board is far superior to the original chip and is an easy drop in. Made with high precision Thin Film SMD resistors and transistors it provides a noticeable drop in noise. No other changes on the machine are needed, just solder in, and listen.
Board is only 19mm wide X 12mm tall and 2.5mm thick so easily fits in the original position without any clearance issues. There is not a lot of room on some boards, so this is important.
I have provided long leads, so it is easier to line up the 9 holes on the board.

Assembly
Assembly is fairly simple. Disassemble your R2R and pull out the audio section boards. Carefully de-solder the leads for the LD3141 chip. If you do not want to save the original chips you can cut all the leads and remove the pins one at a time. If you want to save the chip, use some flux and a de-soldering sucker or braid. The boards and solder is older than most of us, so you have to be careful not to lift any of the traces. Try not to push down on the chip, only pull up when all the solder is removed.
Once you’ve removed the original chip and are ready to install the new one, aligning the leads with the holes on the Akai PCB can be a bit tricky. Here’s a helpful trick: trim the leads on one side at a slight angle, making each one progressively shorter. Then do the same on the other side in the opposite direction.
This creates a staggered effect, allowing you to insert the longest lead into its hole first. Use a small screwdriver to gently guide the next lead into position as you tilt the chip into place. Start with the five-lead side, then move on to the four-lead side. As each lead finds its hole, guide the next one in until all are properly seated.
I hope your restoration goes well.
